To say the least things had been messed up, completely messed up infact.
This life he'd once known, the beautiful son and the most amazing woman he could have ever dreamed of knowing, all there for him and now, now he had absolutely nothing.
Alone and lonely, all by himself.
Okay, so he had 'The Higher Powers' but they were hardly what you'd call a sociallble species.
Nick felt empty inside, though some may have said he was lucky. Lucky to get a second chance, it wasnt luck, not to him, this was hell.
The fact that he was still wondering aimlessly around the place, able to pop in and view his wife and son at anytime but they couldnt see him, they werent allowed to..it killed him, in honesty he'd have preffered death to this, eternal torment.
Dressed in the clothes he'd passed in, dark blue jeans, a grey shirt and dark fitted jacket, he had his head low as he wandered the streets, hands in pockets.
Though the residents could no see him, he could see them. The effects he had on animals though was rather suprising and completely confirmed the rumours of how 'Animals could sence pressence', that kids and crazy people of course, which they all definetly could and he learned this at first hand.
As he passed by mothers and the children, he'd have a fleeted glance from the youngsters, several trolley pushing homeless people had asked him for change and the ammount of dogs who aknowledged his pressence, had been overwhelming.
Even though it was just a dog he felt some kind of humanity. Stopping he lowered himself and squatted down before the golden laborador. Stroking it he smiled lightly as the dog lapped up the fuss that he was giving it.
Getting to his feet again he continued with the journey down the busy streets. Nick was careful to not cross paths with anyone as the last time he'd done this someone literally walked through him and he spent the next two and a half hours being sick, he still wasnt used to that feeling.
He had that look upon his face of sheer depression, he looked like he was about ready to cry and truth be told he always felt that way, he felt unfortunate and hadnt at all taken this second chance as a blessing, he just wanted it to be gone from him, what use was he if no one could see him? if those dearest to him would never be apart of him again.

Samuel His brown eyes peered around the wall viewing Nickolas Adler walk his way down the busy streets of Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
As cautious as he always was, Samuel glanced over his shoulder before side stepping from his hiding spot. Hands in pockets he began to pursue the man.
Following solemnly behind him he shortly caught up. Keeping his head low he spoke quietly to the man, as no one else could see him it would only arise eyes toward him, he hated being in the limelight.
"Mr Adler, i have been sent with a message" he revealed turning his head to the side giving him a small glance "They have found you someone, someone who needs your guidance" his tone was slightly blank, somewhat robotic as it was.
Slipping his hand into his coat he pulled out an envelope and handed it over to Nickolas "All of the details you require are inside" recoiling his hand back to his pockets he looked nervous, he always looked so nervous, this boy was a bag or nerves 24/7 it was suprising he actually left the house, so concerned about those around him it was strange he hadnt become so agrophobic.
Watching his feet as he walked he then looked up at Nick "Just to remind you, we will be watching you, so dont fail at this task..or there will be consequences" it was hard to take his words as they were supposed to be, his tone was blank, you couldnt tell whether it was a threat or a statment, it was just words.
With that he bowed his head at Nick then shuffled off the way he had came, having nothing else to say.

Nick almost jumped out of his skin when Samuel popped up beside him, he barely had chance to respond to the young man he was there and gone in a matter of moments.
He'd bumped into the young man previous to now and again then he was a man of few words, simple robotic spoken instructions and that was it.
When he did eventually have the silence to reply Samuel had already gone.
"Wait up.." he muttered but on closer inspection, standing on his toes he looked over the crowd, blue eyes scanning the area for the dark haired teen but he'd already bailed.
Fraustration filled eyes returned ahead as his feet were now firmly on the ground.
Sighing he opened up the envelope given.
Pulling back the flap he slowly removed a piece of card that was inside of it.
Card in hand he walked over to one of the benches on the sidewalk and took a seat. Gripping the card tightly he scanned it with his eyes.
A name was written, central of the card in italic font 'Henry Procter' followed below in a smaller text was a home address and a list of hangouts. Rubbing the back of his neck he thought for a few moments before emerging from the seat.
Standing upright he placed the envelop in the bin and pocketed the card. Turning on his heel he set off down the street, the way he had come, in search of this Henry Procter, like Samuel had said, 'they would be watching him' he couldnt just shrug this gig off, he was a guardian now, he had to accept that.

"Next please" he called half heartedly, his tone was as if he didnt really wish to be there and the truth was, he didnt.
If it wasnt for the money, which by the way was absolute crap, he'd have left.
When the suited man gave his order Henry trotted off toward the expresso machine.
Taking one of the styrene cups he filled it full of the piping hot caffeine packed liquid and carried it back to the man at the counter.
Forcing a hospitile smile he handed it over to him, wished him a good day and called the next person up.
The queue eventually died down and he was onto his next task, cleaning tables.

Nick arrived at the first location, he'd walked the whole way, though he could have teleported he had chosen not to.
Last time he'd teleported he ended up getting lost and had more problems to follow which resulted in him having to be helped by Samuel.
How was he supposed to help someone if he himself couldnt master his own powers.
Strolling up to the cafe he instantly spotted Henry, he wasnt hard to miss, stuck out like a sore thumb really, it was cliche the most uncool looking kid around had to be the kid he was to protect and guide, wonderful.
Sighing he walked upto the door and stepped right through it, atleast he'd mastered the phasing.
As he entered he watched the young man fumble about cleaning tables, setting them up, doing his work duties.
The difficult part was getting him to notice him, now Nick was unsure if the boy was capable of seeing him now or not, maybe he could since he was magical? but in another light if his mind was not open to the idea of the 'supernatural' he'd have no chance.
Not all who were open to the idea could see him, his sister hadnt been able to and this made Nick believe the higher powers had something to do with it, like they'd cloaked him some how, only dropping the veil when they wished.
Clearing his throat he went on a limb and slowly approached the young man.
"Excuse me?" he spoke quietly, stopping at the young mans side.

"Excuse me?" the voice spoke quietly.
Hesitantly he lifted his head up and looked upward at the blonde man stood beside him, the man was pretty tall in comparison to himself.
"Um, yeah?" he replied with a questioning expression "Can i help you?" he asked again wondering why the guy had approached him and not just gone to the counter.
He found himself glancing around for a moment a little baffled before finally allowing his veiw to stick to the blonde guy.

For a moment he thought he was imagining it, but it seemed that this young man could see him, he could see him as clear as day.
Nick was lost for words, he hadnt bumped into someone who could see him, someone who wasnt of the species whom 'were watching him' it was a good feeling.
Smiling lightly he nodded "I hope so, are you Henry Procter?" he asked straight out, he didnt have time for cryptic, he had a mission, he was going to be successful and he'd be so in as little time as he could manage.

"I hope so, are you Henry Procter?"
Henry rose a brow and instantly became wary of this man who strangely knew his name. Swallowing hard he mustered a few vowel sounds before eventually replying.
"I am yes, whose asking?" he questioned with curiousity toward the man, how did he know his name? how did he know where to find him? oh god! had he seen some of the things he had done?
He grew increasingly worried as the more questions plagued his mind.

"I am yes, whose asking?"
You could see the worry written all over the young mans face, he had nothing to fear of Nick but he gathered this guy was not used to people just strolling upto him, knowing his name.
Smiling friendly he decided to introduce himself, it was the least he could do, besides if he was to get this young man to listen to him they'd have to have some form of aknowledgement between them, honest introductions always broke the ice.
"I'm Nick" he stated extending his hand toward him, he'd reveal more once the young man losened up a little, he feared that if he overloaded him with the answers now he'd more then likely run off screaming or collapse, he wasnt sure which but predicted it would be one of the two.

Hesitantly he shook the mans hand but was quick enough to recoil it afterward.
"Not being rude, Nick but what do you want?" he asked curiousity getting the better of him "And how do you know my name?" questioning him he never took his eyes from him, he was cautious of this stranger.
As he awaited for the answers he found that his mind was swayed by something perculiar that cropped up. Suddenly out of nowhere his colleague, Noreen literally walked right through Nick, like he wasnt even there or rather, like he was a ghost?
The colour instantly drained from his face and before he knew it, his eyes had rolled into the back of his head, his legs went limp and he came tumbling to the ground with a hefty thud.

Before Nick could say anything else he got that woozy feeling in the pit of his stomach, that feeling he hated. Like someone had walked along his grave.
Gut wrenching he held his hand over his stomach and viewed as the other cafe walker was stood infront of him, she'd passed through him. Thankfully this time there was no vomiting involved, he simply shrug it off, besides he was far to concerned by Henry's reaction.
The young man was out cold on the floor, white as a sheet.
Rolling his eyes he stood back as the other workers took him to the backroom. They'd remained with him for several moments but the cafe grew busy and the staff were required out front.
Henry was laid out on the couch out back.
Nick stood by the door and leant against the walk arms folded, watching and waiting for Henry to wake up. Every several moments checking his watch as the clock ticked.

He squinted his eyes tightly after coming too, trying to adjust to the lights in the backroom.
Blurred vision lay on him as he slowly sat up.
He almost jumped out of his skin when he clocked Nick by the door "You!" he squeaked pointing, pulling his knees up he scrambled against the arm of the chair not taking his eyes from him.
"I saw, she walked right through you, like kitty pride in x-three-" he trailed "God that ellen page is hot" Henry daydreamed then snapped out of it pointing at Nick again "But your no Ellen Page! what are you?"he asked raising a brow.

"You!" he squeaked pointing, pulling his knees up he scrambled against the arm of the chair not taking his eyes from him.
Nick rolled his eyes a little at the boys dramatics, okay it was a strange occurance to happen but curling up like he was about to get eaten was a little extreme.
"I saw, she walked right through you, like kitty pride in x-three-" he trailed "God that ellen page is hot" Henry daydreamed then snapped out of it pointing at Nick again "But your no Ellen Page! what are you?"he asked raising a brow.
His eyes had glazed over by this point, practically looking through the young man.
"Take it easy.." he advised looking toward him "Okay, urm long story cut short, im a guardian and ive sent to..guide you?" he recalled sounding like he was even unsure of his own statement, this was just a regular guy, wasnt it? or maybe there was more to him.
Tilting his head he rose a brow "What about you, hm? there must be some reason ive been sent here for you, so tell me, Henry Procter, why do you need a guardian?" he questions curious but also figured doing so would distract the young man and possibly enable him to come clean, that way he'd take what Nick said seriously.

At first Henry was about to laugh and make fun of Nick's claim, however when Nick turned the question around he bit his tongue.
How did this guy know there was something about him? raising a brow he shrugged "I dont know what you mean" what a complete and utter terrible liar he was.
Jumping from the couch he moved toward the door, not making eye contact "Look im busy, i dont have time for these games, whoever put you upto this just tell them it worked and that i bought it, but lay off okay!" he warned in an unthreatning tone but intended to be threatning.

Nick began to grow evermore fraustrated with the young man, okay so his words were unfeesable but Nick could have cared less, he just wanted this over with.
Hanging his head back he sighed "What a crock" he replied inregards to Henry denying it all.
"You know what" he began looking right at him now seriously "You dont believe me thats okay, less for me to think about" he shrugged deciding to take a new approach, reverse pyschology.
Moving passed Henry he faced him "I tried but you werent interested, i wasnt told to work my ass off to persuade you, so i'll see you around" with that Nick stepped forward and straight through the door, showing again that he could infact become transparent, if this didnt convince him he'd just give up now and continue walking.
